Weekend Update: June 23-24

ECo athletes were all over the U.S. from Idaho to Texas to Missouri.  Here is how we did:

Max-O-Mania
Max-O-Mania consisted of three races in two days.  Race 1 was a sprint aquathon (1000y swim and a 3-mile run). Race 2 was the regular Quartermax race (1000y swim, 26 mile bike, 6 mile run).  Race 3 was a mixed triathlon (10 mile bike, 500 y swim, 2 mile run).  The competitor’s times were added together, and the lowest time wins.
Jenny Clark:  1st place Women’s Masters Quarter Max-O-Mania and 2nd overall Woman.  In addition to this, Jenny placed 1st in her age group in the open Quartermax race.
Brad Twigg:  5th place Men’s Open Quarter Max-O-Mania and was 2nd in the open Quartermax Clydesdale division.
Carrie Kimber:  3rd place Women’s Masters Quarter Max-O-Mania
Karen Roberts: completed Octomax race in the Max-O-Mania.
Greg Campbell - Chrissie Bishop:  1st place Co-Ed team Quarter Max-O-Mania

Spring Round-Up
Olympic distance triathlon in Joplin, MO.
Megan Weldon showed that she is in great shape by winning the women's race in 2:35:59.
Robin Trotman placed 7th overall (2nd Master's) in 2:25:44 in his first race of 2012.  Great early season form for Robin!

Buffalo Springs 70.3
Ann Hallenkamp placed 9th  in the 55-59 age group in 6:19:58.  She came off of the bike in a group where 2nd – 6th place were less than 2 minutes apart.  Great racing even though the run didn’t work out quite as well as Ann would have hoped.  Still, a great effort!  Look for more from Ann in the future!

Ironman Coeur d’Alene
Rob Phillips: You couldn’t tell it was Rob’s Ironman Debut.  He raced a very smart, well-paced race and finished 19th in the 25-29 age group and 199th overall in 10:50:50.
Matt Davidson:  Matt overcame early cramping the swim to finish 43rd in the 35-39 age group and 229th overall in 10:59:13.
Nice job from these guys.  They worked very hard the last few months.
