Angie Turner qualifies for the Olympic Trials Marathon!

Angie Turner travelled to Columbus, Ohio and toed the starting line exactly one week after a disappointing DNF at the Chicago Marathon.  Angie split 38:14 at 10k and 1:21:32 at the half-marathon in route to a 2:45:01 finish.  This time qualifies her for the U.S. Olympic Trials this January in Houston, Texas.
 

Jackie Pearce finishes strong at IM World Championships!

Great job Jackie Pearce!  She followed up her awesome IM Canada performance 6 weeks ago with a strong showing at the World Championships.  She finished in 10:42:54, which placed her 28th out of 77 ladies in the 30-34 age group.  This was a gutsy performance considering she just came off of her first ironman a short time ago.

Great day for athletes at Myrtle Beach

Congratulations to Jenny Clark who placed 2nd in the 34-39 AG and 15th overall female in the HalfMax Championships.

Also in the Intermediate race: Greg Campbell placed 2nd in the 50-54 AG and 28th overall and Mackenzie Rickman placed 8th in the 30-34 AG and 16th overall.

In the sprint race: Chrissie McKinney placed 1st in the 35-39 AG and 2nd overall in the sprint triathlon and Paula Rawlings placed 2nd in the women's 45-49 AG and 20th overall.

Jenny Clark and Greg Campbell shine at Branson 70.3

Jenny Clark and Greg Campbell had great days at the Branson 70.3 today.  Jenny, who is coming back from knee surgery, posted the 11th fastest female bike split overall in route to a 2nd place finish in the 45-49 age group and 25th OVERALL (pros included).  Greg overcame TWO flat tires and still managed to post the 4th fastest bike split and place 7th in the 50-54 age group.
 

Keith Fernandez sets a PR at the Lehigh Valley Health Network Marathon!

Congratulations to Keith Fernandez for setting a PR today at the Lehigh Valley Health Network Marathon in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.  He ran 3:24:38 to take 10th in the Mens 45-49 age group.
 

Angie Turner is the overall winner at the 2011 Roots n Blues 1/2 marathon.

Four ECo athletes competed to day in the Roots n Blues road races in Columbia, Missouri.  Angie Turner and Alberto Diaz-Arias, PR'd in the 1/2 marathon, while Greg Campbell and Chrissie McKinney PRd in the 10k.  

Angie Turner posted a 1:20:12 and took the OVERALL win (males included).  She lead from start to finish, looking relaxed and strong the whole way.  This is a great result given that she recently missed 10 days of running due to a calf strain.  

Paula Rawling's HyVee Race Report

The web site said race would not be wetsuit legal, so the last thing I did before heading out was take my wetsuit out of my bag.  It was a cool 60 degrees waiting for hours to get into a 75.4 degree lake - which, of course, was wetsuit legal.  On a good note, the water was warmer than the outside temp, so plunging into the lake had no shock factor.  They had us do time trial starts, 6 at a time.  I was in the last set (of 4) for my wave, and for some reason, they held us up until the row in front of me was almost at the first buoy.  So that meant that pretty quickly, the guys that started a

Robin Trotman posts a strong finish at The Austin Triathlon

Robin Trotman headed down to Austin, TX and had a solid performance at The Austin Triathlon in warm, windy conditions.  Robin placed 14th in the highly competitive Men's 35-39 age group.  Robin was out of the water first, averaged 21.2 mph on the bike and overcame slight cramping issues on the run.  Contratulations Robin on a great season and impressive improvements!  Look out for Robin next season!
 

ECo athletes have great results at HyVee

Four ECo athletes competed at the HyVee Triathlon.  Three of these athletes competed in the prestegious 5150 U.S. Championship division. Collen Parsons led the way with a 3rd place finish in the 39-under Athena division.  Karen Roberts also had a great day with a solid 4th place finish in the 40-over Athena division.  Mackenzie Rickman finished 9th in the competitive 30-34 age group.  In the open triathlon, Paula Rawlings finished 24th in the 45-49 age group.  Congratulations to these four athletes.  They have trained hard and are enjoying the benefits of their hard work.
 

Jackie Pearce finishes IM Canada in 10:19, 2nd in AG!

Jackie Pearce placed 2nd in the women's 30-34 age group and 8th overall (including professionals) at Ironman Canada today.  She swam 1:07:46, biked 5:31:49 (20.25 mph), and ran 3:34:40 (8:11/mile).  Next stop: Kona!
