If you are interested in taking your athletic performance to the next level - whether that next level is beginning a training program for the first time, improving your personal best time, winning your age group, or turning professional - you came to the right place.

Joe Company, PhD founded ECo in 2010, but prior to this he coached at the high school and collegiate level, worked with Olympic training programs, and worked with a number of high-performance athletes, scientists, researchers, and coaches.  Joe began consulting endurance athletes in 2002, but as he evolved in his education and experience, he wanted to make his expertise available to more people.  ECo is the product of Joe's experience.

Endurance Company coaches and partners are carefully selected to provide quality coaching, teaching, information, and advice. All ECo coaches provide a valuable combination of education, practical experience, and knowledge in Joe's training philosophies.  Endurance Company coaches apply these key principles to provide unparalleled, customized training programs for all abilities of athletes.

Our mission is make your training and racing experience as rewarding as possible. The goal is to help you become a healthy, successful, complete athlete by providing a training plan that helps you reach your goals while maintaining balance in your life.

In addition to custom training plans, we offer laboratory bike and run VO2max and lactate testing as well as 'field testing' for bike power. These tests allow unparalleled optimization of your training plan.

2012 ECo Wrap-Up

As we wrap up the 2012 season, I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who is part of the ECo family.  I was very impressed with how hard the athletes worked this year,  how open the athletes were to adapting to new training, and how well the athletes performed.  ECo athletes are part of a group of incredible athletes who have chosen to train wisely, work hard, and redefine their limits.  The results speak for themselves.

High-intensity interval training – is it right for you?

In the October 1996 issue of Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, Izumi Tabata showed that a high-intensity intermittent exercise or High-intensity interval training (HIT) protocol had better aerobic and anaerobic improvements than long-duration endurance exercise (1).

Sweet Restoration

We spend a lot (some, type B sorts, might say too much) time being active in our athletic, and work, pursuits. When we have worked or played hard, there is nothing better than giving ourselves permission for some restoration to ease our bodies and minds. What follows are some poses that can help to rejuvenate us after hard work and play. These can be done individually or as a sequence, following in a sequence from top to bottom.

Beetroot Juice and Betaine - worth a try?

Beet juice improves endurance performance?  Perhaps you have heard murmurings of this in the press recently.  But is there any merit to the claims that beets actually help us perform better?

Hip Hip Hooray!

Tight hips are the bane of an athletes’ existence. Not only does our athletics tighten our hips, but our chair jockey jobs exacerbate the tightness. We never seem to get enough stretching in the hips... always tightening. And yet, loose hips are key to better athletic performance. The glutes and thighs are the body’s power center and tight hips can be a major cause in numerous aches, pains and side-lining injuries. Here are some good yoga poses...
