Meditation: 10 reasons why every athlete should meditate

With all the scientific evidence coming out in the past several years, meditation is becoming something that can't be overlooked. As anyone who's ever played a sport knows, the biggest opponent is always inside. Meditation gives you ways to come to terms with this opponent.

Meditation: a possible treatment for stress-related diseases?

Meditation is a term used to describe a diverse array of practices, each with a variety of goals. All of these practices use non-analytical means to focus attention without “discriminating thought,” which means that the mind is calmed in order to focus the attention inward toward the consciousness (7). Meditation usually includes one of the following: freeing the mind of thoughts, focusing on God/Universe, seeking guidance from a higher power, or focusing on a teaching or situation. Meditation requires no particular lifestyle or belief system (i.e. religion) and is often practiced along with (not in place of) other activities in life.

Detailed review of overtarining and heart rate variability

Overtraining is a risk for any person engaging in regular physical activity and is defined as an imbalance between stress and recovery, with the balance shifted towards stress.  Overtraining can be caused by too much physical stress as well as excessive psychological stress.  One of the consequences of overtraining is a decrease in heart rate variability due to altering the balance of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) towards the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS) and away from the sympathetic nervous system (SNS).

Diaphragmatic Breathing - benefits for runners

If Anders Ericsson’s research, popularized by Malcolm Gladwell in his book Outliers, is accurate, that it takes about 10,000 hours of doing something to Master that thing, then I am a Master runner.  And yet, I feel more like a true beginner at the sport than ever in my running.

TEAM ECo takes 3rd at Club Championsips

Over the past five years, Team ECo has evolved from a loosely-structured group of dedicated athletes who train with Endurance Company to a cohesive group of adult athletes across the United States training and racing for a greater good. The camaraderie of this group was showcased as eight Endurance Company athletes raced as a team in the 2015 USA Triathlon Club Championships.
