If you are interested in taking your athletic performance to the next level - whether that next level is beginning a training program for the first time, improving your personal best time, winning your age group, or turning professional - you came to the right place.

Joe Company, PhD founded ECo in 2010, but prior to this he coached at the high school and collegiate level, worked with Olympic training programs, and worked with a number of high-performance athletes, scientists, researchers, and coaches.  Joe began consulting endurance athletes in 2002, but as he evolved in his education and experience, he wanted to make his expertise available to more people.  ECo is the product of Joe's experience.

Endurance Company coaches and partners are carefully selected to provide quality coaching, teaching, information, and advice. All ECo coaches provide a valuable combination of education, practical experience, and knowledge in Joe's training philosophies.  Endurance Company coaches apply these key principles to provide unparalleled, customized training programs for all abilities of athletes.

Our mission is make your training and racing experience as rewarding as possible. The goal is to help you become a healthy, successful, complete athlete by providing a training plan that helps you reach your goals while maintaining balance in your life.

In addition to custom training plans, we offer laboratory bike and run VO2max and lactate testing as well as 'field testing' for bike power. These tests allow unparalleled optimization of your training plan.

It is time to take the guesswork out of your training!

Endurance Company now offers Metabolic Testing!!!

I am happy to announce that I have teamed up with Tom LaFontaine and Optimus: The Center for Health to provide metabolic testing.  This is a service that I have wanted to offer for a long time and the opportunity for this partnership is very exciting.  Metabolic testing provides valuable information to the athlete in terms of current fitness and optimal training zones.  In additon to the performance data, it also provides insight for weight management and overall health.

Check out the Metabolic Testing page for more information!

The Importance of Training at Your Proper Zones.

For the performance-minded athlete, one of the most important aspects of any training program is training at your proper intensities.  Whether you are working one-on-one with a coach or following a plan from a book, finding your training zones are critical to optimizing any training program.  Training zones are highly individual (your training zone will likely be different from your training partner’s training zones – even if you have similar race times) and are specific for the discipline in which you are training (your bike training zones will be different you’re your run training zones).  In addition, these levels change throughout a training program, making this a very important maker of gains in fitness and great way of determining if your training program is working

Angie Turner wins Tinman Triathlon!

Angie Turner crushed the women's field and all but 5 men in route to a commanding victory at the Tinman Triathlon in Topeka, Kansas.  Angie posted the 7th fastest women's swim, the 4th fastest women's bike, and the fastest women's run (5th best overall run including men).  Congratulations also go to Mike Davis, who won the men's 30-34 age group nad placed 15th overall and Paula Rawlings who placed 7th in the women's 45-49 age group.

ECo athletes perform well at Kansas 70.3

Several ECo athletes competed in Kansas 70.3.  Congratulations to Jackie Pearce, who placed 2nd in the women's 30-34 age group, 8th overall amateur woman, and 16th overall woman (including pros).  Other great performances included a huge PR for Karen Roberts, and strong, smiling finishes from Mackenzie Rickman, Caroline Cue, Cynthia Gerdes, Chrissie McKinnie, and Greg Campbell.  Great job to everyone!

ECo was well represented in four races across the Midwest this weekend

ECo athletes traveled to Iowa, Ohio, Mississippi, and Kansas City, MO this weekend to compete.  We had a lot of great results and happy athletes!  Below is a summary of our busy weekend.

Kansas City Olympic Triathlon, Lee’s Summit, MO.

Jackie Pearce continues to show excellent form by winning the women’s Kansas City triathlon.  She had the fastest women’s bike split (1:06:18, 22.4 mph) and second fastest women’s run (40:32, 6:39/mile) to take the overall win by over two minutes in 2:15:18, a 5 minute improvement over last year’s time.  Cynthia Gerdes finished 11th in the 40-44 age group in 2:56:03 and showed that she is in excellent shape for Kansas 70.3.  On the men’s side, Mike Davis finished 15th and Robin Trotman finished 18th in the 35-39 age group.  This was a great race for both of these guys since they are in the midst of solid base training.

Great day for ECo athletes at TriZoo

The TriZoo sprint triathlon attracted over 600 athletes this year and boasted a solid elite field. Despite a mechanical issue on the bike, Jackie Pearce took 2nd overall in the Elite division of the TriZoo sprint triathlon and continues to show excellent early-season form.  Angie Turner finished 5th and is beginning to find her triathlon legs after spending the winter focusing on marathon training.  On the men’s side, Joe Company took 3rd in the Elite division.  In the age-group competition, Mike Davis placed 5th in the 35-39 age group.

ECo athlete Angie Turner WINS the 2011 GO! St. Louis Marathon

Angie Turner was the overall femal winner and placed 17th overall.  Despite unseasonably warm temperatures and high winds, Angie ran a strategically perfect race.   Angie took over the lead at mile 24 and never looked back, running 2:59:44.  I am very grateful to be able to work with such a talented, motivated athlete.  Look for more good performances from Angie this year!

ECo athletes take 1st and 2nd overall in women's Max Trax Duathlon

MaxTrax serves as a early season fitness test, and turned out to be a great day for three ECo athletes.  Jackie Pearce took 1st overall and Angie Turner 2nd overall in the MaxTrax long course duathlon.  On the men’s side, Mike Davis was 9th overall and 2nd in his age group.
