MEGA TRAINING WEEK 3/23/07-4/1/07

Note:  This post was written in 2007, my last season racing as a professional.

Tuesday, March 27 - DAY FOUR: Hermann Ride 2

Nate and Andy were back with me today for a second trip to Hermann and the famous Reuben Sandwich!  We got rolling at 9 and had BEAUTIFUL weather: sunny and eventually 80 degrees.

Monday, March 26 - DAY THREE

I was by myself again today.  I started off the day with a commute to the lab to help with some testing on a subject.  I was planning on swimming after that, but I forgot my ID card and couldn’t get into the rec center.  So, I biked home, got my ID and biked back- just tacking on miles...

Sunday, March 25 - DAY TWO: Hermann Ride

Today I had some company!  Andy Pele and Nate Smith joined me for a ride to Hermann.  Today’s route:  WW to F into Fulton, O to D to K to P to 94 to 19 into Hermann; the return trip:  19 to 94 to C into Fulton, F to WW to Columbia.
Rides with people are much more entertaining than solo rides.  Yesterday,
the most exciting thing I could have written was that a dog startled me.
Today, we had dogs, stories, mishaps, wind, hills, and an all-together good
bonding experience.

Saturday, March 24, DAY ONE

I was solo today, as Nate had to work and nobody else showed up to ride.  In fact, I only saw 2 other bikers!  Today’s route was:  north on J to Harrisburg, northwest on F, cross over Route 63, east on Route 22 towards Centralia, but turn north on 151 until the intersection with M, turn around and head south on 151 back to Route 22, west into Centralia, then south on Route Z in across I-70, south on Rangeline a bit, turn around, west on New Haven into Columbia.

INTRODUCTION

I will continually summarize the MEGA week training progress, so if you are curious as to how it is going, keep checking this space!  I rarely open up my training logs to people, but I thought I’d go public this week.  I enjoy reading about other’s training adventures; I hope you enjoy these.
