Ironman Florida Pre-Race

Note:  This post was written in 2007, my last season racing as a professional.

After Canada, I took some time to recover and recharge my mental batteries.  The time and effort I put in to preparing for IM Canada totally drained me – especially when I didn’t perform as well as I was capable of on race day.  I was fortunate enough to be able to enter IM Florida and have one more chance at IM this season.

Half-Marathon Victory!

Note:  This post was written in 2007, my last season racing as a professional.

I finally won a race!  It has been over 10 years since my last overall win in any type of race!  I think the last time I won was in the spring of 1997 when I was competing in the 400m as an unattached runner.

Ironman Canada Race Report

OK, I have had over 1 week to process the IM Canada experience and, I guess, with time, comes clarity.  My emotions about he race have touched on happiness, frustration, anger, questioning, gratefulness, uncaring, and all-consuming thought.

Steelhead Race Report

Some background on events leading up to the race:

I choose to do this race because it would serve as a “dry-run” for Ironman Canada in 3 weeks.  I was going to practice pre-race nutrition, race-nutrition, pacing, and placement of items on the bike.  I didn’t have any time goals for this race, but the plan was to swim and bike like I was would for Ironman and then run “by feel.”

Build Report

OH MY!!!  It has been a long time since I have entered anything into my blog.  Sorry if you are a dedicated reader.  I have been really busy with my build training and with my class (Statistics).  Sometimes when I train hard, I think of all kinds of things to write about or philosophize about, but that was not the case this time.
