As we wrap up the 2012 season, I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who is part of the ECo family. I was very impressed with how hard the athletes worked this year, how open the athletes were to adapting to new training, and how well the athletes performed. ECo athletes are part of a group of incredible athletes who have chosen to train wisely, work hard, and redefine their limits. The results speak for themselves.
Beet juice improves endurance performance? Perhaps you have heard murmurings of this in the press recently. But is there any merit to the claims that beets actually help us perform better?
What a great morning! You got up early, had a strong long run, and finished in time to shuttle the kids to the game. Rather than sitting down to eat, you opted for a swig of Gatorade and banana, with plans to eat lunch after the game. The next day on your long bike ride, your legs were heavy, and you struggled through it. Sound familiar?
Endurance athletes are always looking for a competitive edge; that is why we put so much time and energy in to proper training and state-of-the-art equipment. For those who are serious about their performance (or, more importantly, are serious about their health), you may want to look beyond heart rate data, swim splits, and power numbers. Specifically, you may want to have your iron levels tested.
We had the pleasure of having Joe, Amy and Eden Company over for dinner the other night. It was a beautiful spring evening with the flowers in bloom. Everyone was playing in the backyard and enjoying the perfect weather. I did not want to be stuck in the kitchen, so I whipped up a batch of Asian Quinoa in advance.
