Joe Company, PhD founded ECo in 2010, but prior to this he coached at the high school and collegiate level, worked with Olympic training programs, and worked with a number of high-performance athletes, scientists, researchers, and coaches.  Joe began consulting endurance athletes in 2002, but as he evolved in his education and experience, he wanted to make his expertise available to more people.  ECo is the product of Joe's experience.

I’ve never been much of an athlete . . . . I’ve always wanted to be, but never really had a clue of how to go about it.  So when I decided I really wanted to get serious about endurance training, I contacted Joe at Endurance Company. 

Personally, I need to know the science behind what I’m doing.  And it continually amazes me how well my body adapts.  At an age when most people of my age group are starting to decline, I’m starting to see improvement. 

I’ve used a variety of endurance company’s offerings, including basic/full guidance, one-on-one training sessions (swimming in particular), nutrition consultation with a sports dietician, and group training.  So far while working with Endurance Company (and this is not a complete list by far), I’ve completed a half Ironman distance (and that’s a long time in the water, racing and training) for someone who like me doesn’t care for swimming, my first Olympic distance triathlon (having no intention of EVER doing a triathlon without a wetsuit and finding out 2 weeks before that it would probably be too warm to even consider wearing one);  somehow Joe convinced me that I could do it . . . and did and landed a spot in the Hyvee Championships!  And I raced in the National Senior State Cycling Games in Cleveland. 

I’ve utilized the VO2 max testing as well as the lactate threshold testing and Joe’s sued those results to constantly change my plans to improve my performance.  We capped last year’s triathlon season (after being part of Endurance Company’s Branson Training Group) with finishing the challenging Olympic Branson (bike) course on the podium. 

Although each of Endurance Company’s offerings has played a role, I have to say the group training was where my training really started to fall into place.  I was able to watch, mimic, and have critiqued different aspects of training that have definitely enhanced my performance.
