Jackie Pearce

After going through a 5 year period in life where I had very specific and taxing academic goals I got myself my first real job and realized I didn’t have any actual goals anymore.  The sport of triathlon provided me with new goals and filled a small void in my life!  I feel incredibly lucky to have started working with Joe as a coach very early in my triathlon career.  It was quite clear after my first year of triathlon that I was a weak cyclist.  Joe did several rides with me and very astutely determined the types of workouts that would benefit me with the goal of improving my strength on the bike and developing speed.

ECo at Ironman Arizona

Three ECo athletes competed at Ironman Arizona.

Pro Jackie Pearce narrowly missed breaking the 10-hour barrier, going 10:00:10.  Jackie swam 1:06:53, biked 5:16:28 (21.23 mph), and ran 3:30:58 (8:03/mile).  She placed 18th overall female and 134th overall (out of ~2380).

Jackie Pearce: 6th at IM Wales

A 55:52 swim set Jackie up well for a solid showing at IM Wales.  She exited the water in 4th place, then biked a strong 6:12:09 (this was the 7th fastest female bike split!).  She started the run in 6th place, and her 3:24:17 marathon allowed her to hold that position to the finish.  Very solid race for Jackie - Nice job!!

ECo athletes at Steelhead 70.3

Jackie Pearce, Cheryl Rathert, and Ann Halenkamp all had outstanding races at Steelhead 70.3 this weekend.  Jackie set a 70.3 PR and placed 7th PRO in 4:39.  Cheryl won the 55-59 age group with a blistering 2:32 bike split (only 7 minutes slower than the female professional winner).  She finished in 5:31.  Ann finished just behind Cheryl in 5:37.  All three athletes had outstanding days.  Great job!!!

Good day at TriZoo!

Highlighted by Kevin Nickel's overall Men's Elite division win and Jackie Pearce's runner up finish in the Female's Elite division, ECo athletes showed up frequently on the awards stand today.

Jackie's Pro Debut!

Jackie Pearce placed 15th PRO female at the New Orleans 70.3.  The race was changed to a duathlon due to high winds and dangerous water conditions.  Jackie completed the 2-mile 'warm up' in 12:50 (6:25/mile pace), the 56-mile bike in 2:18:05 (24.3 mph), and the 13.1 mile run in 1:29:18 (6:48/mile pace).  Jackie placed 89th out of 1131 competitors OVERALL (men included).  Nice job Jackie!!!
