I ran track and cross-county during high school and college, but I walked away when the pressure of winning became too stressful. Running wasn’t fun anymore. Twenty years later, I was nearing 40 and decided to start working out again. With motivation from a local multi-sport group, my love of running returned, and I developed a new interest: triathlon. I found running and triathlon training plans online and competed to the best of my ability. READ MORE

I have been married to my wonderful wife, Yvette, for 8 1/2 years. We live in rural Newton, Kansas, and have a 3yr old daughter, Corynn, as well as another one due to arrive in July 2012. In 2005 I received my Master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Oklahoma in which my research produced 6 peer reviewed articles and an invitation to speak at the National ACSM Convention. Immediately following grad school, Yvette and I spent a year in Seattle, WA doing full time Mennonite Volunteer Service where I worked as a personal trainer in a non-profit fitness center, Rainier Health and Fitness. We returned to Kansas to be near family and for the past five years I have been working at Pinnacle Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics coordinating the Sports Performance department. Pinnacle has two locations that serve all ages and abilities with sports performance, rehabilitation, and personal training packages. READ MORE

I am originally from Valparaiso, IN. I began racing mountain bikes in middle/high school (1995-1999) and found triathlons fit right in there too. I was quite lucky to have parents that urged me to pursue my interests in cycling and then ride/work for a local bike shop. During my time at Purdue University, studying elementary education, I ran on occasion, but did not race or cycle. After college I taught abroad in Thailand, got back into swimming, and completed the Pattaya Int'l Marathon. My future wife, Brienne, moved there and eventually took me back to the States. I followed her to Arizona and have been here since. After living in such an active environment, I started marathons again (2008) and then eventually got the urge to get back on a bike. READ MORE
