2011: 3rd place in the 5150 U.S. Championship division at HyVee
I began working with Joe in June 2011 after qualifying for the 5150 Championship. I knew I wanted to put forth my best effort in that race and being a working mom, I wanted help organizing my training as well as have a plan designed to maximize my abilities. I come from a very structured athletic background and have not had to come up with training plans on my own so having someone set up a personal plan for me was very appealing. After speaking with several friends that have used Joe’s coaching, I decided to give it a try.
From day 1, Joe was in tune with my goals and how to best achieve them. I had structured plans that enabled me to be more efficient in my training. No longer were workouts just laps to swim, time on the bike or miles to run, but each one had a specific objective and at the end of each day, I felt closer to my goal.
Besides an improvement in all disciplines of triathlon, the best part of working with Joe was my increased confidence on race day. I was not wondering if I was prepared or just pleased I was able to finish but excited for the day to start and looking forward to pushing myself knowing that I was in the best shape I could be in on that day.
I have told Joe he needs to put a flashing “warning – addictive” sign on his website because once you start training with him, it is hard to stop! I am looking forward to another year of racing and seeing what strides can be made.
